Our History
MidwestTargets has been a family run, family-oriented business since its earliest days in 1975 when Charles Wellberg began selling powder through his business MidIllinois Guns in Illinois, eventually becoming the first major distributor of Accurate powder. The business was purchased from MidIllinois Guns in 1989 and continued to grow through 90s.
In 1999, MidIllinois was purchased and moved. Under our new leadership, MidwestTargets has become the single largest distributor of canister powder in the U.S., stocking nearly every brand of Smokeless and Black Powder offered in America including Hodgdon, IMR, Winchester, Hornady, Alliant, Ramshot, Shooters World, Goex, Schuetzen, Swiss, and more, along with an ever-expanding offering of bullets, brass, wads, shot, gun care items, and reloading equipment.
In 2015, MidwestTargets significantly expanded into the ammunition business with numerous purchases which quickly moved to Illinois as a part of the MidwestTargets family.
Through all these changes, James and Amber lead MidwestTargets with a strong sense of service – to their Customers, their Employees, their Communities, and their Customers. Customer Service remains our highest priority, and MidwestTargets is dedicated to earning the trust and loyalty of our great Customers.
Today, MidwestTargets continues to expand our offering to improve our selection of Bullets, Brass, Black Powder, Reloading Equipment, Shooting Gear, and other outdoor products.
